Elegant and Welcoming Public Space Commended at Natural Stone Awards
An inviting Streetscape creates a sense of place, a beautiful environment, and encourages people to live and work there and visit often, increasing value and improving well-being.
Nevermore has this been the case regarding the urban regeneration project Union Terrace Gardens in the heart of Aberdeen City Centre, a collaboration involving landscape architects LDA Design, main contractor Balfour Beatty and natural stone supplier Tradstocks.

Commercial and Public Realm Landscape Award
The project has been recognised by our industry peers at The Stone Federation Awards Ceremony and commended in the Landscape (Commercial & Public Realm) Category. We supplied locally sourced Tradstocks Scottish Whinstone and the judges noted that:
“Aberdeen City Council and the designers were very diligent in their choice of materials and balanced their decisions of local availability production capabilities whilst ensuring they selected the lowest carbon options.”
Locally quarried Tradstocks Scottish Whinstone was chosen for the 500 complicated meandering seated units for the Aberdeen Union Terrace Gardens Public Realm Landscape Project.

Natural Stone AWARDS
Official trade association for the natural stone industry Stone Federation hosted the 22nd Natural Stone Awards Ceremony at London’s Leonardo Royal Tower Bridge Hotel.
Taking place every two years, the Natural Stone Awards celebrates the best examples of the use of natural stone in construction projects from across all sectors of the industry, from cladding and external masonry to interiors, and from landscapes through to restoration work.
“The 2024 Natural Stone Awards has been a fantastic celebration of the very best that this industry has to offer. This year, despite the challenges faced by the industry, the quality and quantity of entries was as high as it has ever been and is testimony to the agility, excellence and professionalism of the companies within the natural stone sector.”
